We have started the trek across the top of Oz and tonight find us in Kununurra. We have had a hectic couple of weeks since my last report from Broome. Mark arrived on the Friday night and Brad, Linda, Kaitlyn and Ryan flew in on the Saturday. Scott, Mel, Joshua and Kobe arrived on the Monday afternoon. So as you can imagine it was very hectic with our four little grandkids. Cable Beach was pretty special and definitely the best part of Boome. We drove our vehicles along the beach and enjoyed the fantastic sunsets, swimming, seeing the camels and checking out the nudist beach. We found that that it is a very expensive town especially eating out. We visited Malcolm Douglas Wilderness Park where the littlies enjoyed seeing all the animals.
We travelled up to Cape Leveque and stayed there for 2 nights. The sunsets were spectacular which was probably the best attraction up there. It was a long, long rough dirt road (not too bad in parts) but a long way to go. We were glad to get back. Left Broome on the Tuesday morning and headed across country to Fitzroy Crossing. We found a great caravan park which was like an oasis in the desert. Left our van there and travelled up to Winjana Gorge where we stayed overnight. It was pretty good and probably worth the trek over more rought dirt road.
Left Fitzroy Crossing yesterday and arrived in Kununurra this afternoon. We are going to go up to El Questro for a couple of days before heading to Darwin. Have to get a move on as our time is running out. Might need to have another week off. (That would be nice).
Hope everything is OK in good old Kempsey after all the rain. We were able to watch all the flood news on the TV over here. IWe have been enjoying over 30 degree days most of the time but the last few nights have been pretty cool. Am not looking forward to coming home to winter.
Well, had better sign off tonight. |
